Trauma Treatment
Trauma: A daunting word, but something that everyone has to a degree. We think of a 911 or a car accident as a trauma. But in reality, anything – no matter how small – that overwhelms us, might be a trauma. Treating those difficult moments of life is our passion, for which we’ve searched all over the country and trained for years.
We’ll want to first hear your thoughts on how trauma has affected your life and do our assessment together. Then, we’ll want to educate you on your options, knowing that we have a full plate of interventions to choose from; making sure that method is comfortable, feels effective and safe to you. Your therapist helps with lots of teaching and support to be your guide. Many of our approaches are body-oriented (somatic) in approach: Here’s why.
We’ll want to help get you feeling safer in the world and in your own skin; to help those around you understand your struggles. Life partners often need education and support in this process as an ally. If you need couples or family support, those will have a lens of helping understand the normal repair process for trauma.
Finally, we’re experts not only in shock trauma (one event) but also in the more cumulative kind of trauma that affects us over time. And we can handle treating many complex traumas at the same time.
“The somatic approach is so amazing, and peaceful and helpful. It has healed so many of my deepest pains, emotionally and physically!! Thank you!” ~Anonymous Satisfaction Survey Participant
