Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) is a collaborative treatment approach that uses mind and body to support clients in healing. Fundamental to this modality is a belief in the body’s innate wisdom and sense of knowing. Engaging in SP therapy allows clients to explore and gain awareness of the wisdom and knowledge stored in the body which guides our experiences in the world. Your SP therapist will use a combination of talk and somatic interventions to support you in your journey. Mindfulness, collaboration, and safety will be felt early on and continued throughout your work in this model.
A particular passion of Kirstin Siegler on our staff, SP helps address the fight/flight or freeze patterns that can be present, but not always noticed, in the body. Once an ability to slow down in sessions is gained, many internal reactions that weren’t previously noticed can come to the surface. Much like snorkeling, we can have a one experience on the beach at the ocean BUT, slowing down, using the snorkeling tools gives one a peek into the richness that’s below the surface.
A close cousin to Somatic Experiencing (SE), this work is broad and rich, taking a practitioner many years to learn. It provides a rich toolbox to move a person from stuck to peaceful and productive once again.

“Your practice is truly phenomenal. The team environment is incredible and I love how welcoming not just my therapist is, but all of the other team members as well. It feels like a community and I am so incredibly grateful that I was connected to FRG. Thank you all so much. Words cannot even express how thankful I am!” ~ Anonymous Satisfaction Survey Participant
